Job Summary

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Applies advanced welding engineering principles to develop, implement, and optimize welding processes for aerospace components, structures, and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify welding procedures for aerospace applications including aluminum, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and other advanced materials
  • Implement and maintain welding quality standards in compliance with AWS, ASME, and aerospace-specific requirements
  • Provide technical support for production welding operations and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Lead weld failure investigations and root cause analysis
  • Design and implement weld fixture requirements and tooling solutions
  • Support NDE/NDT activities related to weld quality verification
  • Create detailed welding documentation including work instructions, process specifications, and quality inspection criteria
  • Analyze weld metallurgy and mechanical properties to optimize process parameters
  • Evaluate and implement new welding technologies including automation opportunities
  • Train and mentor welders on proper techniques and procedures
  • Participate in design reviews to assess weldability and manufacturability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Support supplier management for outsourced weld operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
