Job Summary

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of experts you will lead the design, development, and test various spaceflight systems. You will share toward the team’s impact on all aspects of structures, mechanical, and fluid systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Key Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair structural, mechanical, and fluid systems hardware.
  • Role will have a strong emphasis on supporting production activities.
  • Designing and analyzing flight structure using 3D CAD programs and FEA tools.
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specification, work instructions and test procedures to support non conformance review assessments.
  • Specifically identifying available work and resolving roadblocks to facilitate production tasks.
  • Release and support of engineering artifacts across the product life cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test and operations.
  • Implements operating procedures, resolves system malfunctions, and provides technical information.
  • Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical system design to include one or more of the following: turbines, fins, pressure vessels, fluids/hydraulics, auxiliary power units.
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools.
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components.
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident.
