Job Summary
The Office Coordinator will work with the Chair of the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies. The Office Coordinator will carry out administrative, communications, marketing, and event tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Organizing and maintaining the Chair’s calendar of events
- Updating the website and social media outlets
- Answering emails and greeting guests
- Scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars
- Collecting and distributing mail
- Preparing communications such as memos, emails, and letters of recommendation
- Performing data entry and analysis
- Assisting with event planning and coordination
- Preparing expense reports
Requirements
- Current graduate student at American University
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Graphic design skills are a plus
- Experience with Canva, MailChimp, and Eventbrite is strongly preferred
- Commitment to develop accessible materials for the diverse graduate student body
