Job Summary
An Equipment Operator – Stormwater Operations position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department Streets and Stormwater Service Area. Stormwater Operations maintains over 1,000 miles of Storm drainpipe and approximately 300 miles of open channels, ensuring our citizens are safe from flooding.
Key Responsibilities
- Operates a variety of motorized equipment including but not limited to front-end loaders, backhoes, brush trucks, sand trucks, dump trucks, hydro-mulch truck, water truck, street sweepers, cranes, trenchers, bucket trucks, bush-hogs, bob-cats, tractors with various attachments, fork lifts and other related maintenance, construction, solid waste and environmental equipment.
- Operates various hand tools.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED.
- One (1) year of experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement will be required within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Operate complex equipment (dump truck and trailer, pay loader, excavator, compactor, dozer, gradall, etc) while performing channel maintenance and reconstruction.
- Experience with traffic control.
- Use various hand and power tools (shovels, chainsaw, welder).
