Department Overview

The Specialty Camera Engineering team based in Ware, UK is responsible for developing cameras for long range surveillance applications, such as border or coastal security. The products are aimed at public and commercial safety. The team is responsible for the development of the complete products, including hardware, firmware and mechanics and takes care of the whole development life-cycle that includes development, testing and maintenance of the systems we build.

Job Summary

Motorola Solutions is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Silent Sentinel team in order to facilitate the development of ongoing projects. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and can have autonomy in their work with the confidence to reach out when support is required. This person will collaborate with various stakeholders within and external to the engineering department, as they work to produce reliable products and production methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal machine shop (different site) and suppliers to achieve company objectives.
• Produce supporting documentation to allow for an independent production team.
• Use 3D modeling software to design parts, assemblies and mechanisms using a variety of materials and fabrication technologies (most notably, machining, 3D printing and laser cutting and folding).
• Estimate amount of work required to complete proposed tasks.
• Create detailed production-quality fabrication drawings, design documentation, and assembly drawings for new and existing components.
• Drawing and design review to ensure the team delivers high quality.
