Job Summary

The Program Specialist II (LSS), under general supervision, performs specialist duties for a department, college, or division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops to facilitate program goals.
  • Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors program or services.
  • Provides and coordinates advanced professional level administrative support to programs and may assign duties for specified programs.
  • Confers with staff on program issues and problems.
  • Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing materials.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
  • Supervise, train, and support Learning Support Specialists (LSS) in their instructional and advising roles.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and instructional assignments for co-requisite courses and academic labs.
  • Ensure LSS sessions align with course outcomes and institutional academic standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty teaching developmental and co-requisite courses to align support strategies with curriculum.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of learning interventions, workshops, and skill-building sessions.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of LSS on student performance, retention, and progression.
  • Develop individualized academic support plans in collaboration with LSS and faculty when necessary.
  • Organize and deliver regular training and professional development opportunities for LSS staff.
  • Stay current with best practices in developmental education, academic support, and student success strategies.
  • Collect and analyze data on student engagement, academic performance, and program effectiveness.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Director on the impact and outcomes of the Learning Support program.
  • Recommend improvements based on data and institutional goals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between LSS, faculty teaching co-requisite courses, and other student support offices.
  • Work collaboratively with the Mentoring and Tutoring programs to ensure a seamless support structure for students.
  • Promote tutoring services across campus to increase visibility and student utilization.
  • Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and payroll approvals for student employees.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of tutors and SI Leaders.
  • Support budget management for the program.
