Department Overview

The Sales Engineering Group is the technical center of the Sales Organization. Our engineers bring to life the innovative communications solutions that make a difference in the moments that matter. As the solutions architect owner, the Sales Engineering Groups have the technology and design responsibility for all sales support engagements nationwide.

Job Summary

Motorola Solutions Inc. internship students assist Systems Engineers in all aspects of their work. Interns start out with the basics with small project assignments and gradually build up to larger projects with more responsibilities. Our goal for our student program is to develop excellent candidates for full time system engineering positions upon graduation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mission-critical radio communication solutions by consulting with the customer to determine their needs.
  • Develop technical strategies and generate proposals for customers in cooperation with the sales, product development, and project management teams.
  • Involve coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, design of system architecture, equipment selection, proposal generation, and presenting the proposed solutions to customers.
  • Ensure that our sales professionals and customers are kept up to date on the latest Motorola technology offerings and their relevance to customer needs.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree; preferred emphasis in Wireless, Electrical, System or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.
  • Experience working with customers desirable.
  • Experience/ Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking desirable.
  • Experience/ Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) desirable.
  • Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/ or Amateur Radio/ HAM desirable.
