Job Summary

Support applied research and development programs through algorithm development and implementation in disciplines such as signal processing, statistical and mathematical modeling, and acoustical modeling and simulation for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct algorithm development and implementation, analysis, modeling, and simulation in various disciplines.
  • Prototype scientific algorithms for proof of concept, validation, and software implementation.
  • Support performance evaluation and coding of algorithms into next-generation modeling and production systems.
  • Support acoustic modeling and simulation for training and prediction.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer or information sciences, physics, math, or related technical area.
  • Demonstrated ability in scientific algorithm code implementation and/or scientific modeling and data analysis in any MATLAB/Python/C++, etc.
  • Dynamic skill set, willingness to work with new technologies, highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.
  • Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • US Citizen.
  • Subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in physics, math, computer or information sciences, engineering, operations research, or related technical area.
  • Two or more years of applied programming for scientific algorithm development, modeling and simulation, and/or scientific data analysis.
  • Additional experience in the areas mentioned in the required qualifications.
  • Experience with physical modeling, acoustics, signal processing and/or sonar; real-time modeling and simulation; detection, localization, tracking and classification algorithms and applications; applied mathematics, uncertainty modeling and/or statistics; writing software using multiprocessing, multithreaded, and/or CUDA capabilities; and developing in a Linux environment.
