Job Summary
The Area Sales Director plays a crucial role in crafting and implementing strategies across the Dermatology product line, aiming to surpass sales targets on a national scale. This leadership role involves collaboration with District Managers to ensure the achievement of the organization’s sales goals. The Area Sales Director is accountable for driving results by establishing a high-performance culture and mentoring a talented sales team. Additionally, this position requires providing strategic input in budget planning and market insights to support the overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of business strategies to exceed sales expectations at both Area and National levels.
- Recruit, hire, and coach a team of District Managers and support their recruitment efforts for high-performing sales professionals.
- Create a high-performance culture that values results and personal accountability.
- Build ongoing development opportunities in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Deliver timely assessments and feedback to support performance management.
- Serve as a mentor across cross-functional teams to promote internal talent development.
- Establish relationships with key customers and industry professionals.
- Manage the budget to optimize return on investment while adhering to compliance policies.
- Cultivate collaboration with internal teams to align on strategies that support business outcomes.
- Partner with teams to create effective training programs for leadership and sales skills.
- Provide insights into performance objectives and manage sales incentives.
- Advise on market trends and competitive information, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Proven success in achieving sales targets through strategic planning and leadership.
- 2+ years managing first line leaders preferred.
- Experience in dermatology is a plus.
- Relevant clinical or cross-functional experience in training, marketing, or commercial operations.
- Proficient in leveraging digital tools and emerging technologies.
