Job Summary
The Contract Specialist I facilitates the contract administration process, including data entry into the contract management database, maintenance of paper files, routing and approvals, and monitoring existing contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares scope of work and writes contracts.
- Reviews terms of each contract and coordinates further reviews as necessary with appropriate University and system components.
- Monitors the overall contract review process and associated workflows.
- Negotiates terms with third parties.
- Provides customer service functions and answers questions on contracts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No experience needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.
- Previous TAMU experience.
- Ability to comprehend and apply State/Federal contract regulations.
- Previous experience reviewing and negotiating contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and work cooperatively with others.
