Job Summary

The Contract Specialist I facilitates the contract administration process, including data entry into the contract management database, maintenance of paper files, routing and approvals, and monitoring existing contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares scope of work and writes contracts.
  • Reviews terms of each contract and coordinates further reviews as necessary with appropriate University and system components.
  • Monitors the overall contract review process and associated workflows.
  • Negotiates terms with third parties.
  • Provides customer service functions and answers questions on contracts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No experience needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.
  • Previous TAMU experience.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply State/Federal contract regulations.
  • Previous experience reviewing and negotiating contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and work cooperatively with others.
