Job Summary
The Infusion Accounts Receivable Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end revenue cycle for infusion therapy services. In this position, you will oversee billing, insurance claim submission, denial resolution, payment posting, and patient collections, ensuring timely and accurate revenue recognition.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track medical claims for infusion therapy services to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
- Research and resolve denied or rejected claims promptly to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Monitor aging accounts receivable, focusing on past-due accounts to meet departmental cash collection goals.
- Post payments from ERAs or EOBs and reconcile accounts for mathematical accuracy.
- Communicate with payers to resolve payment discrepancies and coordinate patient payment plans.
- Review clinical documentation for compliance, ensuring accurate billing and timely claim processing.
- Maintain adherence to regulatory requirements, including HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy.
Requirements
- 1–5+ years of experience in healthcare billing or collections, preferably in home infusion, oncology, or specialty pharmacy.
- Proficiency with healthcare software such as EPIC, Allscripts, or Brightree RCM.
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines.
- Knowledge of infusion-specific CPT codes (96413, 96365, 96372) and National Drug Codes (NDC).
- Basic understanding of infusion therapies, drug supplies, and metric quantities for billing accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with MS Office or Google Suite.
- High attention to detail and ability to identify errors in billing or documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
