Department Overview
Dimetra’s engineering team delivers mission-critical TETRA-based communications systems in over 100 countries around the world. We develop the systems that are used by public safety organisations, police and emergency services, and we’re proud that they contribute directly to saving lives. Some of the projects also cover the military sector. The Linux Platform team plays a crucial role in delivering platform solutions (Linux OS, virtualisation techniques, server configuration) that enable the building and configuration of the core of Dimetra communications systems.
Job Summary
We’re looking for an individual with a passion for Linux-based operating systems and virtualisation techniques (mainly KVM) who is keen to design, develop and test platform solutions. Other responsibilities of the Dimetra Platform Engineer include manual integration level testing, test automation, platform hardware maintenance. All day-to-day tasks will be performed using the Scrum methodology and in accordance with Agile best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test platform solutions.
- Manual integration level testing and test automation.
- Platform hardware maintenance.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Linux systems development or maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, including KVM virtualisation (administration and troubleshooting).
- Good knowledge of at least one of Bash or Python.
- At least basic knowledge of networking protocols and features TCP/IP, routing, switching.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning new things and taking on new responsibilities.
- Strong team player who communicates openly and is willing to work closely with other teams.
- English language skills at a level that enables effective communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Scrum methodology.
- Experience of GIT and JIRA.
- Experience of automation frameworks, Jenkins.
