Job Summary
The Linux System Administration Analyst 2 provides experienced support for assorted Linux operating systems and related technologies. This includes but may not be limited to RedHat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu, native and third-party applications, and the management systems associated with each, such as Satellite, Landscape, and Ansible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides support for workstations, servers, services, and software through the entire life cycle including specification and design, procurement, configuration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Works directly with OSU faculty, students, and staff to address their technical needs in both consultation and direct technical support functions.
- Ensures all University and College policies are followed including but not limited to the Institutional Data Policy and the Information Security Policy, and their related control requirements.
- Contributes to projects within Engineering Technology Services.
- Writes and reviews documentation.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department.
- Follows Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices as well as general industry best practices and standards.
- May manage student staff.
Requirements
- Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree.
- Desired professional certifications: RedHat, Ubuntu or other Linux or Linux-like operating systems administration.
- Required Experience: 2 years of experience professionally supporting Linux or Linux-like operating systems.
