The HR Technology, Operations, and Delivery team at R1 partners with Centers of Excellence (CoEs), HR Business Partners, and Services teams to optimize Workday business processes, enhancing employee and manager experiences through best-in-class technology. We are seeking a Workday HR Compensation Operations Manager to join our HR Employee Services team. This role collaborates closely with the Total Rewards COE and other HR functions to support compensation operations, including the ongoing management of Workday Advanced Compensation.

Job Summary

As a Workday HR Compensation Operations Manager, you will serve as a subject matter expert on Workday Compensation and Advanced Compensation, partnering with Total Rewards and HRIT to align system design with business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday Compensation and Advanced Compensation (merit and bonus).
  • Partner with Total Rewards and HRIT to align system design with business strategy.
  • Represent Total Rewards in cross-functional meetings, ensuring alignment with Performance and HRIT teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technology enhancements.
  • Lead planning, testing, and execution for compensation cycles (merit, bonus).
  • Manage configuration and data governance for compensation elements (grades, ranges, job profiles).
  • Support EIB submissions and coordinate with Global Shared Services on data validation and corrections.
  • Coach and support HR stakeholders on Workday compensation functionality and best practices.
  • Act as an escalation point for compensation-related issues during design, testing, and hypercare.
  • Consult on the development of user guides and training materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field—or 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of HR systems experience, including 3+ years with managing cross-functional projects.
  • Proven experience with Workday Compensation and Advanced Compensation, including at least two completed merit/bonus cycles.
  • Strong understanding of Workday configuration, business processes, and data governance.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across time zones and in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday Performance Management.
  • Familiarity with Workday reporting and dashboard design.
  • Workday Pro certifications (HCM Core, Compensation, Reporting, etc.).

Benefits & Perks

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $79,789.00 – $134,521.77 per year. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 10.00%.
