Job Summary
We are seeking a lead mission systems software engineer for development of a large air vehicle. Engineers in this role will primarily architect and define the software system, establishing system boundaries and interfaces that will enable modern software practices throughout a rigorous development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize integration events, scoping key deliverables and impact to broader program.
- Establish cross discipline sprint initiatives, unblocking teams to move out on feature sets.
- Develop software for key initiatives, reducing risk and unblocking team members in areas of high technical risk.
- Drive software requirements and specifications with cyber and safety considerations.
- Own and maintain software roadmap, with detailed breakdown of work and milestones tracked against broader program deliverables.
- Author documents to fulfill specific customer requests, including white papers and reports.
Required Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience writing production software (C or C++ preferred).
- General exposure to mission systems standards, including OMS/UCI, Link 16, and relevant government reference architectures.
- A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact.
- Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in air-gapped environments (without network connectivity).
- Knowledge of defense technology and tactics, especially in the air domain.
- Awareness of safety critical software development practices, including DO-178c and/or MIL-HDBK-516C.
Salary
US Salary Range $220,000 – $292,000 USD
