Job Summary

This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. Purpose to develop and perform molecular biological research requiring special qualifications to support an NIH funded project about “Ribosome Assembly”. Responsible for complex research projects requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Proposes, plans, schedules, executes and reports the detailed phases of a research project. Works with and/or supervises others in research lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and executes molecular and biological research experiments.
  • Compiling, analyzing and presenting results.
  • Lab management including all ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Supervise and train undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or another closely related field.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with protein purification using a Cytiva AKTA system.
  • Expertise in molecular cloning.
  • Expertise with vitro RNA biochemistry.
  • Deep knowledge of translation mechanisms.
