Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Senior Government Underwriter (Remote). In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and approving residential loan applications, ensuring compliance with various regulations and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate creditworthiness of borrowers based on detailed documentation.
• Ensure all loans meet corporate credit policy and compliance standards.
• Review loan files for accuracy and completeness before final approval.
• Analyze financial stability of self-employed individuals and their business income.
• Verify all necessary documentation is complete and accurate before closing.
• Communicate effectively with various stakeholders regarding loan statuses.
• Assist in the training of team members and support key initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of recent Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, Conventional).
• DE, SAR and LAPP certifications strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ATR/QM requirements and mortgage insurance guidelines.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting production standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
