About the Team
The Database DevOps team is responsible for building and operating Workday’s next-generation Database Platform (XDB) and Database Operator (db-operator) capabilities across Workday’s public cloud environments (AWS and GCP). Database Operator (db-operator) is a Kubernetes controller that automates the full lifecycle management of databases (AWS Aurora RDS and GCP Cloud SQL) using declarative Kubernetes objects. We own the automation, tooling, and orchestration that power Workday’s mission-critical databases, ensuring they are secure, resilient, scalable, cost-efficient, and fully integrated into Workday’s CI/CD and cloud infrastructure. Our team sits at the intersection of Kubernetes, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and database engineering. We deliver the platform foundations that thousands of Workday engineers rely on to safely deploy and operate database workloads at scale.

- Contribute to the design and implementation of XDB Platform, Workday’s unified, multi-cloud DB platform for AWS, GCP, and private cloud.
- Engineer CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and developer tooling that enable fast, safe, repeatable delivery of DB platform capabilities.
- Ensure platform resilience and operational readiness for all database-as-a-service components.
- Develop and improve monitoring, alerting, operational dashboards, and data-driven insights on database fleets.
You will solve engineering challenges in distributed systems, automation at scale, multi-cloud Kubernetes, and DB lifecycle orchestration, enabling Workday to…
