Job Summary

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems.
  • Drive component and system requirement development and determine performance requirements, interfaces, and allocated resources for critical thermal components on the Blue Moon Crew Lander.
  • Ensure the design, delivery, and integration of spacecraft thermal components.
  • Responsible for all technical, programmatic, and cost aspects of the assigned thermal component.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10+ years of spacecraft thermal engineering experience.
  • First principles understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics; ability to perform simple hand calculations.
  • Strong grasp of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, sizing, building, testing, verifying, and validating aerospace hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience with spacecraft thermal systems or spacecraft component design.
