Job Summary

At Zoox, we’re not just building self-driving cars; we’re creating an autonomous ride-hailing service that will revolutionize how people move. Our Ops Tools team is the central nervous system of this mission, and we’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to be a technical leader in this critical area. This isn’t just another full-stack role. You’ll be at the intersection of web development, robotics, and real-time operations, building the software that allows us to manage and scale our fleet of autonomous robotaxis.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and own the full-stack web applications that are the backbone of our autonomous vehicle operations.
• Provide architectural leadership across the stack, from the front-end to our backend services and AI infrastructure.
• Be a mentor and a guide for other engineers on the team, elevating the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, and by championing best practices.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and our remote operators to dream up and deliver new features.

Required Qualifications

• Solid foundations in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
• Solid understanding of web technologies.
• Experience with a Front End UI Framework (e.g. Vue, React, Svelte).
• Ability to design and architect large scale web applications.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate consistently.
• 10+ YOE and Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering, mathematics, or related field.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Python or C++.
• Experience with 3D graphics, especially in a web context.
• Familiarity with robotics and 3D spatial reasoning.

Salary

$235,000 – $305,000 a year Base Salary Range
