Position Summary

We are looking for passionate upper-level undergraduate students or graduate students who are seeking summer internship opportunities to learn, grow, and work alongside other talents. The intern will work in the Research Engineering (RE) group, inside the larger Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) group, under the guidance of an experienced scientist. The mission of RE is to enable and accelerate research analytics for patient benefit through collaborative development of innovative computational data processing, integration, and dissemination platforms. With the recent explosion of interest in generative AI, LLMs, and AI agents, the RE group has taken on a key focus of evaluating, prototyping, and applying such technologies to translational research use cases, which will be the main focus of the internship. The internship will also provide an opportunity to gain an understanding of the drug development process through interactions with project teams and opportunities to network with individuals from multiple disciplines in BMS. The intern will have the opportunity to apply generative AI and LLM technologies to translational research use cases within RE in close collaboration with Enterprise IT and more generally to assist in expanding the team’s capabilities. The full-time internship will take place June- August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Summer intern will focus on applying generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and agentic frameworks to solve practical problems in translational research and drug development at BMS.
  • Potential projects involve building intelligent tools and systems that enhance data accessibility, streamline exploratory analysis, and facilitate integration and quality across core R&D datasets.
  • The intern’s work will have direct impact on improving research efficiency, data-driven discovery, and automation in our organization.
  • Project assignments will be tailored to align with the intern’s background and interests, ensuring a meaningful impact on areas where their strengths are best applied.
